We are excited and APPRECIATIVE to receive
the clear support from DEAN STERLING HUDSON III.
Few persons can boast they delivered twenty-seven (27) years of service to Morehouse College in various leadership capacities. Dean Sterling Hudson III is in that rare club. From 1983 to 2010, Dean Hudson touched the lives of countless prospective students, Men of Morehouse, Alumni, and others while leading The Office of Admissions. Additionally, he served as Dean of The Senior Class for a decade. Many of of recall his stern manner is which he EXPECTED MORE of us (and we welcomed that attentive "pressure"). Likewise, his OPEN DOOR policy was sincere, extended to all, and taken advantage of by many.
Dean Hudson is a well-respected speaker, author, and advisor in the education arena. He received recognition for his work as director of the Pre-Freshman Summer Program at Morehouse, which focuses on easing the transition between high school and college for Morehouse freshmen. Hudson also supervised many departments during his Morehouse career, such as freshman studies and enrollment, including student recruitment, admissions, and financial aid. He served on the committee for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, the board of directors for the United Negro College Fund's Enrollment Management Project, and the National SAT Committee.
Hudson: "I worked there [Morehouse College] 27 years. During those years in the Morehouse environment, I learned a great deal about how young men, especially African American males, approach education—not just higher education, but education in general. It's given me a lot of insight into some of the obstacles between our young men at varying stages of the education pipeline and obtaining a baccalaureate degree." (from comments posted on childfirstusa.org)
Without debate, Dean Hudson's involvement in admissions, recruitment, registration, retention, and graduation of a few thousand young men has earned him more than appropriate respect in the Morehouse Community. His support of our COLLECTIVE STATEMENT and this "Morehouse Movement" is a reaffirming testament to the virtues of our efforts.
Dean Hudson further wrote:
"I love it [Collective Statement] & wish you guys all the best in achieving your goal(s) for making your Alma Mater better and stronger!!"
THANK YOU, Dean Hudson!!!
